a LEGACY cHURCH

Trinity United Methodist Church has a rich and meaningful history. We're are a legacy church formed through the joining of several earlier churches over time.

Our roots in Loveland go all the way back to the late 1800s, and we carry with us the traditions of three older Christian movements: the Methodist Church (started by John Wesley in England), the United Brethren in Christ (begun by German settlers in the 1750s), and the Evangelical Church (founded by Jacob Albright in the 1760s).

In the early 1870s, a group of German-American settlers in Loveland started a United Brethren congregation called “Dilley Chapel,” first meeting at 3rd and what’s now Lincoln Avenue. In 1907, they built a new brick church at 5th and Grant, where they worshiped for more than 40 years. Around the same time, other German immigrants in town started an Evangelical Church, which met at 7th and Washington.

In 1946, the United Brethren and Evangelical churches merged nationally. The two Loveland congregations followed suit and built a new church together at our current location on 8th Street and North Cleveland Avenue in 1951.

Later, in 1968, the Evangelical United Brethren Church joined with the Methodist Church to become the United Methodist Church. That’s when we officially became “Trinity Church,” helping people tell us apart from First United Methodist just a few blocks away.

Today, Trinity remains a strong part of the Loveland community. We are proud of our legacy, and even more excited about what’s ahead. We continue to share Jesus’ love through real relationships, heartfelt service, and faith that makes a difference—honoring where we’ve come from while looking forward to where God is leading us next.
